What is Vocal Cord Cyst?

Vocal cord cysts are benign cystic lesions that form in the lamina propria layer of the vocal cord. They are classified into two main types: mucus retention cysts and epidermoid cysts. Chronic vocal misuse, infection, and laryngopharyngeal reflux are predisposing factors. Hoarseness, diphonia (double-toned voice), and vocal fatigue are typical findings. Microsurgical excision is required in cases unresponsive to medical treatment.
