What is Regular Gynecological Check-up?

Gynecological examination is a comprehensive examination evaluating the organs of the female reproductive system (uterus, ovaries, vagina, vulva, and breast). Through routine visits, cancer, infection, and hormonal disorders can be detected at an early stage.

During the examination, pelvic examination, Pap smear sampling, ultrasonography, and blood tests if needed are performed. The physician also evaluates the patient's current complaints, family history, and lifestyle to make personalized recommendations.

The World Health Organization and Turkish gynecology associations recommend that women between 21-65 years of age have regular Pap smears and pelvic examinations. Annual check-ups should also be continued after menopause.
