What is Acute Appendicitis Emergency Approach?

Acute appendicitis is the inflammation and infection that develops as a result of obstruction of the lumen of the appendix vermiformis. If untreated, it can progress to perforation, abscess, or generalized peritonitis.

In the emergency department, diagnosis is made through clinical findings, laboratory tests, and imaging methods. Alvarado score and ultrasound/CT findings support the diagnosis.

Surgical treatment (appendectomy) is the gold standard; in uncomplicated cases, the laparoscopic method is preferred. Early diagnosis and rapid surgical consultation reduce complications.

Pain starting around the umbilicus and spreading to the right lower quadrant
