What is Ultrasound Monitoring in Pregnancy?

Pregnancy ultrasound is a radiation-free, safe examination method that evaluates the fetus, placenta, and amniotic fluid using sound waves. It is used for various purposes from early pregnancy diagnosis to delivery.

Standard pregnancy follow-up includes first-trimester screening (11-14 weeks), second-trimester detailed ultrasound (18-22 weeks), and third-trimester growth ultrasound (28-36 weeks). 4D and fetal echocardiography are performed as needed.

Ultrasound is considered safe for the fetus; however, the examination should be performed within clinical necessity by experienced practitioners.

Symptoms

Pregnancy diagnosis and confirmation
Fetal heart rate check
Nuchal translucency and first-trimester screening
Fetal anomaly screening (second trimester)
Growth and placenta assessment
Amniotic fluid volume measurement
Biophysical profile and Doppler

Risk Factors

Advanced maternal age
Pre-pregnancy diabetes and hypertension
Familial genetic diseases
Previous anomaly history
Multiple pregnancy
Pregnancies achieved through assisted reproduction
