What is Traditional Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a system of complementary and alternative medicine developed in the late 18th century by Samuel Hahnemann. Its core principles are 'similia similibus curentur' (like cures like)—using substances that produce symptoms in healthy people to treat similar symptoms in sick people—and the law of minimum dose with serial dilution and succussion (potentization).

Common potencies include decimal (D, X), centesimal (C, CH), millesimal (LM, Q) and Korsakovian (K) scales. Beyond 12C dilution, statistically no molecules of the original substance remain (Avogadro's number), making mainstream pharmacological mechanisms implausible. Proposed mechanisms (water memory, nanoparticles) lack robust scientific validation.

In Turkey, homeopathy is recognized within the Ministry of Health's Traditional and Complementary Medicine Regulation (2014), restricted to licensed physicians with certified training. Indications cited in clinical homeopathy include allergies, mild functional disorders, behavioral issues and chronic conditions as adjunct. Patients must continue evidence-based treatments for serious conditions; homeopathy should not replace conventional therapy.
