What is Thermotherapy (Heat Therapy)?

Thermotherapy aims to provide vasodilation, muscle relaxation and pain reduction by increasing tissue temperature with methods such as hot packs, paraffin baths, infrared lamps, ultrasound and short-wave diathermy.

It is widely used in chronic musculoskeletal pain, myofascial syndromes, menstrual pain and soft tissue rehabilitation. It is generally combined with physiotherapy.

Caution or contraindication in acute trauma, active infection, sensory deficit, coagulopathy and areas with malignancy. Application time and temperature must be controlled to prevent burn risk.
