What is Tai Chi and Chi Kung?

Tai Chi and Chi Kung are Chinese-origin movement disciplines combining slow, flowing movements, breath control, and mental focus. They are classified as low-impact exercises.

There is high-level evidence for balance, fall prevention, muscle strength, and joint range of motion in the elderly. They are also recommended as supportive in fibromyalgia, chronic heart failure, and COPD rehabilitation.

It is considered a safe practice. It should be performed with a qualified instructor at a level suitable for the individual's physical capacity.
