What is Rolfing (Structural Integration)?

Rolfing is a system developed in the early 20th century by Ida Rolf, based on deep tissue massage targeting connective tissue and changes in posture. It is usually delivered as a series of 10 sessions.

Some supportive data exist for musculoskeletal pain and postural disturbances, but the level of high-quality evidence is limited.

In Türkiye, within the GETAT framework, it should only be performed by trained and authorized practitioners. It does not replace conventional physiotherapy.

  • In severe pain and neurological signs, a medical diagnosis should be obtained first
  • Rolfing alone is not a medical treatment
  • Prefer a certified practitioner
  • Pain during the application should not be considered acceptable
