What is Parkinson's Disease Rehabilitation (Detailed)?

Parkinson's disease rehabilitation includes physiotherapy (LSVT-BIG protocol), aerobic exercise, balance training (BBS), gait training, occupational therapy, speech therapy (LSVT-LOUD), swallowing rehabilitation, cognitive support and pharmacotherapy adjustment.

LSVT-BIG (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment-BIG) is an evidence-based protocol for amplitude-based motor training; LSVT-LOUD targets vocal amplitude. PD-specific functional exercises include cueing strategies (visual, auditory) and dual-task training.

Goal is to slow disease progression, improve quality of life, prevent falls, support functional independence and provide mood-cognition support. Disease-modifying effect is limited but symptomatic and quality benefit is significant.
