What is Headache and Migraine?

Headache is one of the most common complaints in the community. There are different types: tension-type headache, migraine, and cluster headache. Most headaches are not signs of a serious disease; however, in some cases they may require medical evaluation.

Migraine is usually a moderate-to-severe headache felt as throbbing on one side of the head. Attacks can last from hours to days; they may be accompanied by symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and hypersensitivity to light and sound. In some patients, visual or sensory symptoms (aura) occur before the pain.

Some headaches are caused by lifestyle-related factors such as stress, sleep irregularity, poor nutrition, or prolonged screen time. In recurrent or severe headaches, it is important to consult a neurologist.
