What is Electroacupuncture?

Electroacupuncture is a method in which low-voltage electrical current is applied through needles placed at classical acupuncture points, presumed to stimulate nerves. It is suggested to increase endorphin release and contribute to pain modulation.

Evidence-based literature provides moderate-level evidence in chronic pain and nausea-vomiting; however, the effect size is limited. It does not replace conventional treatments.

In Türkiye, it should be performed by GETAT-certified physicians authorized by the Ministry of Health. It may be contraindicated in pacemaker users and pregnant women.
