What is Clinical Medical Hypnosis?

Clinical hypnosis is a structured therapeutic technique using focused attention, hypnotic induction and post-hypnotic suggestions in a state of altered consciousness.

Evidence supports its efficacy in chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, smoking cessation, weight management, anxiety and some psychosomatic disorders.

It is performed by trained clinicians (physicians, psychologists, dentists). It is contraindicated in psychotic disorders and severe personality disorders. It is not a magical method; it requires individualization and informed consent.
