What is Cerebral Palsy Transition to Adulthood Rehabilitation?

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a lifelong neurological condition. During the transition to adulthood, functional decline, chronic pain, fatigue, early joint degeneration and psychosocial difficulties emerge.

Adult CP clinics provide multidisciplinary evaluation (physiotherapist, occupational therapist, orthopaedist, neurologist, psychiatrist). Orthopaedic problems, spasticity management and cardiometabolic health are at the forefront.

Vocational rehabilitation, independent-living support, adaptive equipment and social participation are critical goals. Paediatric-to-adult transition programmes improve long-term health.
