What is Complicated Grief and Prolonged Grief Disorder: Recognition and Treatment?

Prolonged grief disorder requires persistent intense yearning or preoccupation with deceased lasting at least 12 months in adults.

Symptoms cause significant functional impairment in social, occupational and other important domains beyond cultural expectations.

Identity disruption with sense of self diminished or confused since loss represents key feature.
