What is Caregiver Burnout?

Caregiver burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by chronic stress in individuals providing long-term care to a loved one (with dementia, chronic illness, or disability).

It can lead to depression, anxiety, sleep disturbance, and physical illness in the caregiver, while also harming the quality of life of the care recipient.

Early recognition and structured support planning are critical for the health of both the caregiver and the patient.
