What is Urodynamic Studies?

Urodynamic studies are a group of tests measuring pressure, flow, volume, and electrical activity changes during bladder filling and emptying. Uroflowmetry, cystometry, pressure-flow study, and EMG are the main components.

They play an important role in complex urinary incontinence, neurogenic bladder, bladder outlet obstruction, fistulas, and pre/post-surgical assessment. They guide treatment planning.

The procedure is usually mildly uncomfortable but can be done in an outpatient setting. It is safely performed by an experienced urology team using standardized protocols.
