What is Scrotal Doppler Ultrasonography?

Scrotal Doppler ultrasonography is a non-invasive imaging method that evaluates intra-scrotal structures with high resolution. Color Doppler examines testicular blood flow.

It is the gold standard for diagnosis of testicular torsion, epididymitis, hydrocele, varicocele, testicular tumor, hematocele and inguinoscrotal hernia.

It is critical especially in evaluation of acute scrotum because urgent intervention is required when blood flow is reduced (torsion).
