What is Robotic Radical Prostatectomy?

Robotic radical prostatectomy is an operation in which the prostate gland, seminal vesicles, and pelvic lymph nodes if needed are removed with the assistance of surgical robotic systems such as the da Vinci system.

It is one of the curative treatment options for localized prostate cancer. 3D imaging and precise instruments facilitate nerve-sparing and urinary continence-preserving dissection.

It offers similar oncologic outcomes compared with open surgery while reducing blood loss, transfusion need, and hospital stay. In experienced centers, results in preserving erectile function and continence are favorable.
