What is Plague (Yersinia pestis)?

Plague is a severe zoonotic infection caused by Yersinia pestis transmitted by infected fleas or aerosols, presenting as bubonic, septicemic or pneumonic forms.

Symptoms

Sudden fever, painful regional lymphadenopathy and prostration
Cough with hemoptysis and rapid sepsis in pneumonic form

Travel to endemic regions and contact with rodents or fleas
