What is Miliary Tuberculosis?

Miliary tuberculosis is a disseminated form of tuberculosis caused by hematogenous spread of M. tuberculosis. It produces innumerable millet-sized (1-2 mm) granulomas in the lungs, liver, spleen, bone marrow, and central nervous system. It is a medical emergency requiring prompt initiation of anti-tuberculosis therapy.
