A complementary practice based on individual assessment using highly diluted preparations. The majority of clinical studies have reported results comparable to placebo.
Indication
- Complementary support in chronic functional complaints (mild insomnia, tension)
- Individual support in seasonal allergy symptoms (in addition to modern treatment)
- Adjunctive approach in limited situations such as pregnancy nausea, with physician approval
- Quality-of-life support in chronic diseases (while modern treatment continues)
- Complementary application for symptoms such as pain and anxiety
Preparation
- Medical history, medications used, and diagnoses are shared in detail
- The patient is informed that current treatment must not be discontinued
- A preliminary consultation is held to discuss realistic expectations
- Food allergies and lactose intolerance are reported (for carrier substances)
How it's performed
- A detailed, individualized history is taken (may take 45-60 minutes)
- A diluted homeopathic preparation is selected for the identified complaints
- Dose, frequency, and duration of use are provided in writing
- Modern treatment must not be interrupted during the course of therapy
- Response is evaluated at regular intervals; the product or dose is updated if needed
Post-procedure
- Weekly or biweekly follow-up is performed during the first 2-4 weeks
- Keeping a daily diary is recommended for objective monitoring of complaints
- If response is insufficient or symptoms worsen, modern treatment is prioritized
- If a new complaint or alarm sign (fever, weight loss, bleeding) appears, immediate consultation is required
- Long-term use is reviewed at regular intervals
Risks
- Risk of delaying real treatment in serious illnesses (the most important risk)
- Mild gastrointestinal complaints or allergic reactions
- Disappointment and financial loss due to ineffectiveness
- Standardization issues; the same product may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer
- Risk of flare-up if existing treatment is discontinued inappropriately
FAQ
Is homeopathy actually effective?
The majority of scientific literature has not demonstrated the superiority of homeopathic preparations over placebo. For this reason, it is not offered as a stand-alone treatment method.
Can I stop my current medications?
No. Homeopathy does not replace medications for diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, or cancer. Medication changes are only made by the treating physician.
Can it be used in children?
In children, application may only be considered in addition to modern treatment, under the supervision of a certified physician trained in pediatrics and homeopathy.
Are there side effects?
Because preparations are highly diluted, serious side effects are rare; however, the greatest risk is the delay of real treatment and the attempt to substitute it for modern care.
