What is Cardiac CT Perfusion?

Cardiac CT perfusion is an advanced technique that assesses myocardial blood flow by dynamic CT imaging under stress induced by adenosine or regadenoson.

It provides both anatomic and functional information in a single session and gives results comparable to invasive FFR even in the presence of calcified plaque. Its value has been shown in studies such as PROMISE and CORE320.

The method offers a comprehensive one-stop evaluation, simultaneously assessing ischemic burden, viability and hemodynamic significance.

Symptoms

Stable angina
Atypical chest pain
Exertional dyspnea
Calcified coronary lesions
Known coronary artery disease
Suspected microvascular dysfunction
Intermediate pretest probability

Risk Factors

High coronary calcium score
Previous PCI
Known coronary artery disease
Diabetes mellitus
Chronic kidney disease (contrast caution)
Multiple risk factors
Atypical symptoms in women

When to See a Doctor?

If you experience any of the following symptoms, seek medical attention promptly:

  • Suspected intermediate-risk CAD
  • Evaluation of calcified lesions
  • Suspected ischemia after coronary CT
  • Suspected restenosis after prior PCI
  • Suspected microvascular disease
  • Patients unable to exercise

Treatment Methods

01
PCI or CABG when ischemia is detected
02
Medical optimization
03
Risk factor management
04
Antianginal therapy
05
Lipid control
06
Cardiac rehabilitation
07
Follow-up planning
